The Wharrad Foundation was created as a fitting and lasting tribute to John Wharrad a Birmingham based businessman who was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) around seven years ago.
As John’s illness progressed it became apparent to his close family, who cared for him, that there was limited help and support available for those affected by this rare and debilitating disease.
The Wharrad Foundation has been setup to address this short fall, aiming to provide the much needed help and practical support for the sufferers of MSA and those who care for them.
To this end the Foundation intends to provide, or loan specialist equipment that may not otherwise be available, provide respite and practical assistance for carers and provide an information hub and advice network.
We are pleased to announce that the Wharrad foundation has now had its charitable status confirmed by the Charity Commission. Our registration number is 116954

Funding will be key to the success of The Wharrad Foundation and a program will be rolled out in the coming months which will include, but will not be limited to, general fund raising events, corporate events, donations, sponsorship, grants and the sale of selection of merchandise.
We will of course be on the lookout for volunteers who are prepared to give up some of their time to organise, or take part in sponsored events, so if you have any ideas or would like to volunteer, we would like to hear from you.
